Dear Incoming BU Families,

Welcome to the BU family! As you and your student prepare to embark on this exciting journey, I invite you to register for our virtual Know Before You Go sessions for parents/guardians. These sessions will serve as our Parent & Family Orientation this spring/summer. Rest assured, the sessions will be recorded and available for viewing on our Parent & Family Programs website. The sessions will be as follows:

  • Monday, May 13, 8-9 pm ET – Getting Started
  • Tuesday, May 21, 4-5 pm ET – Student Resources
  • Monday, June 3, 8-9 am ET – Living Here
  • Monday, June 10, 4-5 pm ET – Health & Wellness
  • Tuesday, June 18, 8-9 am ET – Campus Community
  • Monday, June 24, 8-9 pm ET – Belonging & Connections

As a reminder, please make sure that your student has registered for Student Orientation. If your student has registered for a June session, you are invited to visit campus with them and reserve on-campus accommodations for a reasonable fee. During these June sessions, we will be hosting Campus Welcome Breakfasts for parents/guardians in the George Sherman Union, 775 Commonwealth Avenue. Please register in advance for these events.

Though this is a wonderful time to explore campus and the city, please note that this visit to campus is optional—there is no additional programming and parents/guardians are not able to attend Student Orientation. Tours of campus are available by signing up at the admissions website.

This is an exciting time for you and your student—but we also know that it can be stressful. Know that Parent & Family Programs is a resource just for you! Join our Terrier Family Network for access to our parent portal and to receive regular newsletters from the University. I also encourage you to utilize our Next Steps Checklist for New BU Families as you and your student prepare for move-in. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to email parents@palaciosolutions.com, or call 617-358-1187.

I look forward to connecting with you virtually, in-person, or both!

Warmly,

Christy Loring
Director, Parent & Family Programs
